Pop Star Night

A few nights ago our American Heritage Girl Troop sponsored a movie night to watch the Veggie Tale Popstar movie. The girls dressed up like pop stars and walked the red carpet. It was a lot of fun. I can't believe how grown up my girls are!

Saturday Emily's AHG troop helped the Boy Scouts with there Scouts For Food campaign by passing out bags in a local neighborhood. The girls had fun and it's for a great cause!

As of September 18th Christopher officially became a teenager. I can't believe he is 13! For his birthday he received some pretty cool Lego kits.

Pro Life Prayer Chain

On October 2nd we participated in the Pro Life Prayer Chain at St. Cyrils.  We stood near the road and held up signs against abortion and for life.  It was nice to hear all the honks of support!  I think it was a good experience for the kids to be a part of something so important.  

I'm back!! Really, this time I am going to start posting more.  So here is the first installment.

We are now in our new home all settled in for the most part.  Emily completed a couple of requirements for the canoeing badge while she was at the American Heritage Girls camping weekend so we decided to work on completing the badge at home.  We have a small lake in our back yard and a canoe.  

                  Then we invited a couple of friends over to work on their badges as well.  

We talked about all sorts of things like how to hold the paddle, how to use it, how to sit in a canoe, etc.

Then they climbed in the canoe to try out what they learned.

I think we will need more practice but we learned a lot.

Blogging Vacation

It's been a long time since I posted anything.  Its been crazy for the last five months! The short story is: I gave birth to Seth Alexander on November 16th.  He was 9 lbs and 13 oz and 21 inches long.  The delivery went well partly because I had a really good epidural this time.  Much better than the last three kids but since he was so big the recovery was much longer.  It took a few months for everything to get back to normal but I am finally feeling pretty good now.  Adjusting to having a baby has been difficult.  Seth does not sleep well and will not take naps unless I am holding him or laying with him in bed.  That makes homeschooling really difficult.  Also we have been trying to move over the last six months so we have been cleaning, packing and organizing like crazy.  This has also made homeschooling next to impossible.  We were finally able to put our house up for sale in February and had to keep it really, really clean for showings.  To make a long story short the house is sold and we have bought a new house.  Now we are just waiting on the closing date which we hope will be in the next 2 or 3 weeks.  Its very exciting times but has also been very hard and stressful. We are looking forward to moving and getting back into our routine.  We will definitely be doing school in the summer to catch up.  But we will be doing it in the new house!!   I will also try to keep up on my blog.  We are doing school work but not as much so I will try to post again soon.
